Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor

About The Role:

Supervise, lead and provide technical direction to a manufacturing engineering team of engineers & technicians supporting the production lines in Spencer, IN. Additionally, individual will be responsible for leading and completing strategic projects as well as supporting emerging issues on the production line to ensure the metrics of Safety, Quality, Service and Cost at met at Production Unit level. The individual will get a balanced mix of supervision and engineering work, enabling growth in both the technical and supervisory aspects of the role.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Team Supervisor

  • Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports
  • Monitor daily line performance & guide team priorities to meet production unit goals
  • Coach Engineers & Technicians through problem solving of complex issues.
  • Ensure proper resource allocation to ensure issues on the line get resolved with minimal disruption to strategic projects
  • Support direct reports career growth through competencies by providing guidance on training and development opportunities
  • Support development of manufacturing process improvements by providing technical guidance to less experienced personnel, including change management.

Technical Engineering Lead

  • Successfully complete manufacturing engineering project work on Value Improvement Process (VIP) and Strategic Quality Process (SQP) projects.
  • Lead engineering teams to the successful completion of complex projects impacting the Production Unit.
  • Ability to effectively execute high level engineering tasks, including planning, scheduling, and leading major cross functional technical projects of a complex manner.
  • Intuitively identifies technical risks and acts proactively to reduce negative impact on product and projects.
  • Maintain and enhance cross-functional team relationships.
  • Ensures policies and processes are followed.
  • Must comply with requirements of ISO 14001:
    2015 and BSC Environmental, Health and Safety standards and follow procedures and instructions related to these standards

Develop Managerial Skills

  • Assist manager in providing guidance and training to staff, developing direct reports to attain career goals, motivating individuals to achieve results, and recruiting and maintaining a high-quality staff.
  • Work with manager to establish department goals, objectives, and budgets.
  • Assist manager to plan resource needs and hiring for department.

What We re Looking For In You:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience
  • Must have practical understanding of manufacturing problem solving and process improvement tools such as DMAIC and production flow tools such as LEAN manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated leadership of problem solving in a manufacturing support role
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, by analyzing, summarizing, and presenting ideas concisely via visual communication methods i.e. tables, graphs, Visio diagrams, and PowerPoint presentation
  • Must have a functional knowledge of preventative maintenance and equipment repair

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical device industry experience
  • Project management experience
  • Hands-on technical/mechanical experience and aptitude
  • One year minimum of supervisory experience preferred
